Brian and Jeff raced to 1st place in the 2-man division and 5th overall, despite some non-standard use of UTM’s by the race director!
Brian, Charlie, and Ernie raced to 5th place overall in this brutal 40 hour race put on by Race Day.
Triangle AR had some great showings. Charlie placed 1st overall and Brian was 2nd, both as solo entries. And Jeff was on the first placed coed team. Another Hammer racer Dale Long of S.C finished 1st as a member of the winning 911 Police team.
Brian and Jeff participated in the American Bushwhacking Championship (Rogaine). Brian placed 6th overall and was the 3rd soloist, while Jeff placed 7th overall and was the 4th soloist.
Some additional race results: Bruce tied for first place in the Greenbrier Challenge (03:05), and Jeff Thompson and Steve Sowell took 11th in the Midnight Rush. Congrats to all!
Bruce and Charlie finished 3rd in the two-man team division of the Wild 100 (11th overall).
Bruce tied for 1st place after riding 52 miles with a 16.9 MPH average, beating all of the relay teams in the process!
After a 2.5 hour training bike ride, Brian and Bruce took 3rd in a very long and difficult “red” course at the local o-meet. Usually the red course takes around 60-75 minutes, but this time it was just over 120! Sean made the bike ride and the 1st third of the o-course, but after a tough spring health wise, dropped out as planned.
Ernie, Charlie, and Kirsten Reff placed 10th in the Mountain Sports Festival AR. A slightly mis-plotted CP (due to mild hypothermia…don’t ask) combined with trying to navigate a blank section on the map with lots of posted property probably delayed us for an hour or more. It was a good result considering the stupid mistakes we made that day.
Bruce raced with Juan and placed 3rd in the two person male category.
