Bruce teamed up with Steve Sowell and Jeff Thompson as team “3 Dawg Knight” and finished 1st overall in 3:11:28.
Bruce raced with 3 other mountain bikers and they placed 1st in their division with 26 laps.
Bruce teamed up with Dale Long and Derek Ard to compete in the Law Enforcement category of the 11th annual USMC “MudRun”. The four mile course consisted of a cross country run interspersed with Military style obstacles, such as culvert pipes, cargo nets, six foot walls, rope assisted climbs and mud pits. Competing as team 15th Circuit combine, their overall time was 46:20 which posted first in the Police category and fifth
fastest of 173 teams. The team was surprised to see that in reviewing the
results they has beaten a “Navy Seal” team by 11 minutes!
Brian finished 4th in the 24hr Wayne Rogaine. He competed as a solo and scored 2039.
Bruce and Charlie rode approximately 73 miles, finishing 3rd in the 2-man team division and 11th overall on the “standard” course (out of 71 teams/solos). 09:39:45
Brian, Bruce, Charlie, and Sean teamed up for this race in WV. In the end, only two teams finished ranked, but they both took “alternate” routes that allowed them to make the cut-offs. While they were given 6 and 12 hour penalties for their route selections, all the teams that followed the passport were not able to continue. We are proud to say we are the only team that completed the entire course to CP9 as indicated on the passport. Click here to read more in the race report.
Josh’s diet is an annual training race, that proved quite difficult this year. Charlie, Bruce, Brian, and Ernie all went to VA to take part, and did quite well. They were the 2nd team and 5th overall in 10 hours and 40 minutes.
Charlie and Sean teamed up and placed 2nd in the 2-person category of this 24 hour moutain bike race. The loop was 9 miles and included some decent short climbs (for eastern NC), quick descents, and lots of roots. Charlie got in 10 laps, anywhere from 50 minutes to just over an hour. His last two were a blazing 57 and 56 minutes, after we found out we were in 2nd place but only one lap up on the 3rd place team. Sean got in 9 laps, anywhere from 1 hour to an hour and 20 minutes. Even though Charlie got in one more lap than Sean, Sean was on the course longer!
Ernie raced the 40 miler, and placed 33rd out of 75 finishing males. His time of 9 hours 33 minutes was almost 45 minutes faster than last year! Consider that was without any distance running training! Here’s what he had to say: The trail was a complete mud bath and there were at least 10 additional river crossings this year due to the 2 inches of rain the night before.
