The next regular BOK (Backwoods Orienteering Klub) event will be held at the north entrance of Umstead off of US-70.

Everyone is welcome at our Regular events beginners through experts.

Everyone must carry a whistle while on the course.

Whistles are available for purchase ($1).

You can start between noon (sometimes earlier) and 2:00 p.m. You must finish by 3:00 p.m.

Entry fees are $5 (Free for members).

Finger sticks (SportIdent Cards) are required. You can rent one at the event for $5, or buy one for $37.

Loner compasses are available without charge if you need one.

A Free Beginner class starts at 12:30 p.m.

Description LCCP park management and TORC would like to invite mtber’s for night rides at LCCP every 1st Tuesday and every 3rd Wednesday of the month. Starting October to April. Please be familiar with the trails, have at least a 10w light, be off the trails by 8 pm and out of the park by 8:30 pm. Please park at the boat rental parking lot, second paved lot on the right. Description Harris Lake park management and TORC would like to invite mtber’s for night rides at Lake Harris every 2nd Thursday and every 4th Tuesday of the month. Starting October to April. Please be familiar with the trails, have at least a 10w light, be off the trails by 8 pm and out of the park by 8:30 pm. First race of the year for the 2nd offering of the Trailblazer’s Adventure Racing series for 2009.  Features up to 6HRS of racing in the low lands of coastal SC.  This early year race promises to be a suffer fest for those just coming out of the holiday couch training.  Check out the link for more details:

Team members Brian and Bruce took sometime out from the regular racing scene to support the local RDU-Trailblazers AR practice series held in early November.  The event took place over the trails and greenways around the Bond Park area of Cary.  With plenty of miles of riding, a dedicated orienteering course and some very special challenges including a lung searing 1 mile opening run leg it made for a great workout and social event.  Thanks to Bob May for setting up the course!! 

Brian and Bruce scored 251 points in maxing out the course with an overall time of 3HRs 03 MIN.  Check out a few team pics from the event:

Brian, Bruce and Dale Long travelled to the Uwharrie Trails region of NC in October to compete in the 2nd Annual Gold Nugget AR racing as a three male team in the 12HR version.  Despite some navigation snags the team managed a fourth overall, ranking second among the all male teams with a total of 880 points and elapsed time of 11HRS 45 MIN.  The race consisted of a signficant amount of hike-a-bike, paddling on Badin Lake and a dedicated orienteering course.  Check out the link for pics from the event.
